Our History
Historical Development of Education African Scholars Global Connect (EASGC)
Education African Scholars Global Connect (EASGC) is a nonprofit organization founded on the values of youth empowerment, human capacity development, and global academic opportunities for African students. Its history reflects a journey of passion, resilience, and commitment to giving back to society.
The Beginning: People Empowering People Tutorials (March 2020 – August 2022)
The origin of EASGC traces back to March 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic when global lockdowns disrupted academic activities in Nigeria. Stanley Peter Anukwuocha, driven by his passion for education and youth empowerment, started this initiative named People Empowering People Tutorials. With the assistance of his cameraman, Solomon Imaga, Stanley created short video content addressing pertinent issues in Human Resource Management, area of specialization, counselling session for young people on how they can position themselves well to achieve greatness in life his. These videos aimed to educate his students and the public, under the philosophy of empowering individuals who, in turn, empower others, hence the name “People Empowering People.” Otherwise referred to as PEP Tutorials.
Stanley consistently published these educational videos on his YouTube channel until August 2022, when he relocated to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Management on a fully funded scholarship with the aim of expanding the scope and coverage areas.
Scaling Up: Transition from People Empowering People Tutorials to Education African Scholars Forum (December 2022 – January 2023)
In December 2022, Stanley invited his bosom friend, Goodluck C. Adimuko to join him in the expansion of their impact beyond Nigeria to youths across the 54 African countries. This led to the transformation of the platform into the Education African Scholars Forum. Stanley recruited the first set of volunteers, which are Fernando Gabriel, Alex Chineke, with Solomon Imaga who was there by default. While Stanley crafted the Mission, Vision, and core values of the organization, Goodluck designed a new logo different from the one the organization was using under the name PEP tutorials to depict its current status. On January 6, 2023, the organization officially launched a new website dedicated to disseminating global scholarship opportunities. Consequently, the YouTube channel and Facebook page were rebranded from People Empowering People to Education African Scholars Forum. At this point, the organization did not yet have LinkedIn or Instagram pages.
Their motivation was rooted in their shared experience of hardship while searching for scholarships after graduation. Both were determined to support underprivileged African youths in pursuing study-abroad dreams by offering free guidance, financial, and material assistance.
Becoming a Legal Entity: Transition from Education African Scholars Forum to Education African Scholars Global Connect (March 2023 – December 2024)
Recognizing the need for legal status, Stanley initiated the registration of the organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria in March 2023 to operate as a full nonprofit organization. Stanley being the chairman of board of trustees nominated Goodluck as the secretary and included Obinna Franklin Ezeibekwe, one of his friends as financial secretary.
During this process, they encountered a challenge: the name Education African Scholars Forum was already registered by another entity. To reflect their expanded vision of nurturing African talents and connecting them to global opportunities, they adopted the new name Education African Scholars Global Connect. This new name symbolized the organization’s mission of global connectivity and support. As time goes on, Stanley appointed their pioneer board members which are, Linda Mgbechidinma from Nigeria, Jun Kajee from South Africa, Eric Adedze from Togo, with Obinna Ezeibekwe as a default board member.
In September 2023, EASGC was officially registered and recognized as a legal nonprofit organization in Nigeria. To further enhance their capacity to access foreign grants and operate internationally, Stanley pursued registration of the organization in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States and included Obinna in the registration as a representative of the organization in that State. Hence, by December 2024, the organization secured legal authorization to operate in both Nigeria and the United States.
Present Day
Today, Education African Scholars Global Connect operates as a legally recognized nonprofit organization in Nigeria and the United States of America. Through its various programs and initiatives, EASGC continues to empower African youths, providing them with the necessary resources, mentorship, and opportunities to achieve their study-abroad dreams and unlock their full potential.
